View Full Version : best country to be ts in

I nominate the Philippines as most tolerant place for t's -- they have pageants, parades, bars everywhere and live openly in small towns even. it's heaven. Thailand is good too but there it is like the straight and gay worlds are separate. In Fil, it's all fun and the titas, as they are called, are the entertainment -- and I'm sure get a lot of action!

your stories welcome

Interesting, Felicia. I only know these countries by rep and word of mouth. Brasil gets a lot of attention, but from what I understand being TS there isn't nearly as accepted as it is in Thailand or the Philippines, even though there are pageants and all. Very macho culture overall. I don't know much at all about the Philippines scene, but having several friends from Thailand I know that acceptance there is far higher than in Western countries by and large. Italy seems to have a strong scene. In the US, of course, it's all about the various "sub-cultures": NYC, South Beach, San Francisco, etc., each with its own characteristics and large TS population.

I think Amsterdam is also pretty open to transgender, as well as other demonized social taboo's that we have here.

,,,i've also heard that Spain and Italy are accepting for transgender too. I've been to both countries, when i was in Spain this past June, i was in Madrid and happen to be there the day the ultra conservative's were having a march/parade against the passing of gay marraige there. I've been to probably every major city in Italy/Sicily, and in Rome, Naples, and one other ciy i can't remember at the moment, i've been out and about and have seen ts girls out and about all the time. So i am assuming that in the major cities there it is acceptable, compared to my city in the NE area which is more puritanical than even the rest of this country. Also i heard that a lot of the more popular Brazilian tgirls actually live in Italy and Spain too.

JohnnyPaycheck

,, actually, i take that back, about my city. Rhode Island is supposedly considered the most liberal of the 50 states. It was founded by Rodger Williams who basically was kicked out of Mass because he was considered a heathen. Here we actually have a huge gay community, and our mayor is openly gay. However, despite all of this there are no transgender girls here at all, but then again having a big gay community wouldn't really have anything to do with a transgender community since gay guys don't really look for ts girls, and vice versa,, maybe drag shows, but here even those don't happen.

Hing, that's true about Amsterdam, Italy and Spain. Particularly interesting is that Spain passed the same sex referendum this year despite being possibly the most Catholic country in Europe (perhaps more so than Italy).

Incidentally, did you hear that the California legislature became the first state legislature in the country to pass--in both houses--their same sex equal rights bill? That is, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, which defines marriage as between "two persons" not between a man and a woman. Their senate did last week, and the house this week. Of course, Ahhnuld will most likely veto it! But the time is coming; this is a major milestone. Also, CA was the first state to legallize interracial marriage, back in 1948, and to rescind anti-sodomy laws in 1972 (iirc).

Ecstatic,
yes, that is a major milestone. Im not sure why it has taken this long to get this far with the topic of same sex marraige in our society, i mean, is it the issue of money/taxes?, or is it really the issue of religion that is preventing this sort of thing. I personally feel that if we didn't have religious fundamentalists in control of governments around the world this whole subject of homosexuality would not be so taboo/demonized/feared, because i think for the most part people in our country really don't care or feel threatened by it. It seems to be just the elite 10% in our country, lawmakers, etc that care about it, and then you have the poeple who listen to the Pat Robertsons, Sean Hannity's, and Bill O'Reilly's who grow up thinking it's a sin, moral decay of this country, etc. Maybe its a combination of both conservative religion and taxes.
Massachusetts, our neighboring state has gay marraige, and from what i understand our state is maybe 1 yr away from it.

hahahaha "Ahnuld", that was good.

Hing, Ahnuld not withstanding, society is moving in this direction. It was only 40-50 years ago that interracial marriage was outlawed in most states, and now no one seems bothered by it. I'm sure RI is not far behind. Here in Mass the AG just allowed the petition to move forward to put a ballot question on the 2008 state ballot to allow citizens to decide whether marriage should be limited to one man and one woman, but it has to go through two rounds in the state legislature first (which it probably won't survive), and even if it goes to the ballot, the majority of Mass voters would oppose it, leaving the current law in place allowing same sex marriage.

TS are also slowly gaining recognition and equality. In another generation or two at the outside, I think that the struggles of the past 50 years will be over and society will be much freer.

being from Maine, I agree the Canadians are the friendliest, most laid back people I know. Had lots of fun in Montreal, Quebec City, and the Maritimes. (halifax rocks!)
As for some of the other countries mentioned, I can't really say. But I do know that a few r very poor, rigid and male dominated societies. Sparing niceties, maybe a bit of a stretch to say they are great places to be a ts.

i'd have to say canada, but i'm biased.

i guess new zealand is pretty protective of its T community, they even had/have a T prime minister.

but here in canada you can still have your surgery funded in some provinces. people cant fire you for being you. and there are LOTS of T people around. i know that almost everyday when i go out to be amongst the unwashed masses i'm still able to spot 1-2 t peeps a day. my hubby and i were talking about that last weekend because of all the sightings. both t boi's and t grrls. transies just pouring out of the woodwork up here!!! and its only been within the past year that weve noticed such a huge influx of t peeps out in public.

many of my neighbors who are pregnant are praying to have a ladyboy baby...hehhehe

I'd like to move to Canada. Some of it is because of acceptance, another is because the health care system in the US is pure shite. There's probably a whole slew of other reasons.
I'm sure Thailand is very acceptable, but I'd have less chance of understanding anything than I would in Canada.

I don't believe the same sex marriages have anything to do with taxes. I mean, wouldn't that be covered under civil unions? So since the taxes issue is covered, it's now just for the narrow-minded super-religious conservatives.

One of the severe burdens of same sex couples in Massachusetts--the only state which allows same sex marriages--is the complexity of their income taxes. By state law, they can file jointly as a married couple, but by federal law (despite the fact that, even under the onious Defense of Marriage Act, marriage is defined by the state and not by the federal government...yet....) they must file separately as single taxpayers. This creates an incredible morass of tax complexity, especially with re Schedules A & C, home office deductions, etc.

I took Juliana's comment as somewhat tongue-in-cheek, kind of like saying "man it's hot out" when the temperature is below freezing. Anyway, interesting contrast between your comments and Alyssa's, Carla. Does it depend upon where in the Philippines you are? Like some cities being more "hip" to a girl being TS than others? It's certainly that way in the US: NYC, Boston, SF, and other cities are quite liberal and open (relatively speaking, anyway), while others are much more close-minded (think Bible Belt).

It is striking that the Philippines and Thailand have similar TS populations, but such different attitudes towards TS, stemming primarily from Thailand being Buddhist and never colonized, while the Philippines are Catholic and were colonized by Spain for 350 years. Not that the situation in Thailand is perfect--far from it, girls there still have limits on job prospects and degree of social acceptance--but it does seem to have the most enlightened attitude of any country I know overall.

it doesnt depend where you are, there arent any "hip" places for ts here, maybe in the red light districts. Generally the issues with school and work are experienced in the whole country. I am always in Manila and I can say that ts's here are hmm quite tolerated, (just tolerated, but not worshipped or admired). well im really passable and people who dont know me see me as a biological female so i dont experienced being made fun of or anything. well, yeah, biological girls envy us, but thats just because of our looks, and not because of what we are. there are instances when i saw groups of trannies being drove out by the securities guards from establishments well because the guards think that they're escorts (w/c i think they really are). I think the situation worst in provinces coz the people there are soo narrow minded (kinda close to being primitive)haha!!! Most ts's here are mostly in the entertainment industry like dancers and stand-up comedians. In my case im in the fashion industry. I must say that ts's here are really pretty esp. the escorts. They really look like barbie dolls. Well mosts ts's here look for foriegners as bf's coz were really appreciated by foriegners, and they are open minded. And having a foreign bf for some ts is like the only way for them to get out of this country.

Well you are both so pretty and passable I doubt you would have problems anywhere. Here in the states there's a misconception that all TS are escorts, which simply isn't true (there are at least 60,000 TS in the US, and only a fraction of them are escorts), however the percentage of beautiful TS who escort is surely much higher because it is much easier for them to work as escorts.

I just hope and work for the day when people are accepted regardless of their gender. I know that day is still far off, but I'm heartened by the progress that's been made, here at least. I'm also fascinated by other cultures and how they view TS, and am planning to visit Thailand sometime in the next two years. When I do, I hope I can schedule enough time to spend at least a couple of days in the Philippines. I never thought much about your country, but it seems naturally beautiful despite political distress, and I hope I can see Manilla or Cebu someday.

Its funny how in Canada is trying to adopt a tiered health care system based on the American model. IT WON'T WORK!!!! Why mess up a decent FREE health care system?

MrGemini

To Canadians, the concept of NOT having a free healthcare system is hard to comprehend. If someone is sick and needs help, they need help. It shouldnt just be for people with money. It works good for the Canadians with money tho, cuz we can go down to the USA and pay for faster/better help if necessary, or use our free healthcare (which can have longer waits for some scans/opperations than the USA's pay to play method). But it'd be hard for you non Canadians to get used to the high cost of living and taxes I bet.

Does anyone know if the canadian healthcare system assists transsexuals or do they consider it cosmetic and therefore not necessary? (not free)

Canada is probably the one of the best places for TS to live. Our society here is already very diverse culturally and many other ways.
Gay culture is very accepted in most places in Canada too.
People are very accepting of all types here unlike what you may find in certain portions of the US.

Toronto has a huge number of Filipino TS, I attended a legitmate beauty pageant there last year just for them. It was judged by the Mayor of Manila's wife among others.
Plus the amount of adult entertainment work in Toronto is incredible right now for TS. A good place to visit for admirers too.

I believe certain jurisdictions in Canada will assist in a tgirls transformation. But this is only possible if they obtain proper counselling and follow all doctors orders. This also involves attending support groups and hormone replacement therapy. I don't think breast implants and other cosmetic type surgeries are covered but the final surgery would be in cases that qualify. Plus with the slow speed of our "free" medical system often causes TS to go it on their own with black market hormones and the like.

Our medical system may be free but people fail to mention that we are one of the highest taxed countries in the world, if not number 1.
So someone is paying for it.....

I don't pride myself in resurection old threads that "o.g" posters have long since tired of and moved on to more interesting subjects of discusion, but it so happens that I am a novice using the back button as a sort of time-ship to exlore the history of this here web forum.

I found myself here thanks to a link at a grooby pornographic website designed to cater for my needs by arousing certain parts of my body with nude pictures.

In light of the subject matter contained herein, I'd like to state that I'm in the process of saving up funds to assure me exotic and fantastic experiences in Brazil during this impending Winter celebrations. I intend to make this vision a reality at the mentioned time, and I intend to fully make sufficient donations to the not currently mentioned "ladies" for their precious time in giving me some special attention- invoked by prior nude images of them afforded by the grooby organization and it's affilate porngrams of exposure for these women.

The wheels have been set in motion and the pleasure to ride the coaster of love is in the making.
