Ahem, I would like to point out, in case the news has not travelled so far, that Scotland (ye bonny etc) carried out its first legally-recognised same-sex marriages on Monday 19 December under a new law passed earlier this year. "Civil partnerships" is the official term, but effectively it is the same thing as a registry office hetero marriage. They had to call it something different to shut up the God-spotters.

Here's a link

Over 140 couples have signed up to be wed under the new law.

And in a pleasant moment of smugness, (pass me that Havana) I note that England and Wales followed suit yesterday, Tuesday 20th. Better late than never, of course.

Joking aside lot of people in both nations worked long and hard to achieve this and they deserve a big round of applause.

And congrats to the happy couples.

Still in the Dark Ages or the same place as their heads, up their asses.

Hi in fact the first marriages south of the border were celebrated today, with 700 couples being wed, amongst them Sir Elton John and his partner.

I just listened to a radio report on the Sir Elt wedding

Anchor: Were there many people there?

Reporter: There was a crowd, they were very supportive.

Anchor: And did they come out and show their rings?

Reporter: No I didn't see their rings...

Sorry I have to go somewhere else now as I am about to choke with hysteria..........I may die, don't wait up.....
