Sickening, might as well make paying protection money to the Mafia a legal procedure, then.
Assholes, assholes, ASSHOLES!
to that conservative guy who said the guy deserves it.....better have fire protection in your home owner's insurance, you spooge sucking dickhead.
We need to bring back human decency and compassion, folks.
This story adds another example of EPIC FAILURE to conservatism, folks. Liberals are not angels either, but I don't like the right wing even more.

No offense, but that is how that city operated, there are clear reasons why, the homeowners knew that, and had just decided to let that bill lapse.
We all ASSUME that bad shit will not happen.
Fire services ARE NOT FREE, when you live within a major city, you pay taxes to the city that covers Fire, Police, Trash pickup, etc etc etc
In the case of living far outside a town, you sometimes run into this sort of situation.
So yes, it was the fault of the home owner, if you bail out this one, you have to bail out the next, then the next then the next, then all of a sudden you have everyone only paying the fire fee IF their house catches on fire.
and thats simply not how fire department services work.

So, what you are saying that business and bailing out banks are ok, but some human decency is not? That letting the guy go homeless was the right thing for the fire department to do? I'm rolling my eyes in disgust at you, dude.
I'd personally SPIT in the fire fighters faces, each and every one of them.
You receive an EPIC FAILURE mark from me, dude.

they CHOSE to live OUTSIDE the city
they CHOSE not to pay the ONCE a year $75 fee
in LIFE you have to LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES
Comparing bank bailouts to letting a trailer burn down is immature dude
They could live IN THE TOWN, and likely pay MUCH HIGHER PROPERTY TAXES, that would cover the fire department fees, but they chose not to.
the law is the law

Yo, the poor guy even offered to pay whatever the fire fighters wanted. But still let it burn.
THIS IS THIRD WORLD BULLSHIT! THIRD WORLD BULLSHIT THAT RIGHT WINGERS AND CONSERVATIVE NAZIS LOVE! YOU WANT IT LIKE THAT, GO MOVE TO SOMEPLACE LIKE SOMALIA OR SOMETHING!
IT'S FUCKING TIME WE START BEING DECENT HUMAN BEINGS! AND I BET THESE GUYS AT FAULT PRETEND TO BE CHRISTIANS. YEA, ASSHOLES, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT JESUS, YOUR HERO, WOULD DO?! AND YOU IDIOTIC FIREFIGHTERS, HOW WOULD YOU KNOW YOU COULD CONTAIN THE FIRE ONCE IT REACHES THE OTHER HOUSES?! IT COULD BECOME LIKE A CHAIN OF DOMINOES! REMEMBER OF SOMETHING CALLED 'COMMUNITIES', WHERE IF ONE PERSON GETS EFFECTED, WE ALL DO?! AND SUCH RIGHT AWAY, WE SHALL DESTROY YOU AND, IF WE'RE LUCKY, YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AS WELL, HELL YEA!!!!
And I heard a few dogs and and cats died in the blaze....which is horrible....yet imagine if someone was asleep in that house, and did not even check to make sure....OH, HOW I'D DO EVERYTHING I COULD TO NAIL THAT FIRE FIGHTER DEPARTMENT TO THE WALL.....CAUSE THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS WOULD NOT EVEN BOTHER TO RUN IN THERE AND DO THE RIGHT THING!
AND I HOLD THE ENTIRE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THEIR BOSSES AND THE MAYOR AT FAULT, I DON'T GO WITH THIS, "WE WERE ONLY FOLLOWING ORDERS, MAN!"
And if I were there, I'd grab an axe, and whatever else I can to get in there and help out. YOU SAVED OTHERS IN TROUBLE, YOU HELP OTHER PEOPLE, THAT'S WHAT AMERICA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE, NOT THIS FREE MARKET WORLD WHERE IF YA DON'T PAY ON TIME, WE'RE LET YOU CRUMBLE!
PAY THE PRIVATE COMPANIES, OH HELL YEA AND ROCK ON! ~rolls eyes~ THIS IS WHAT RIGHT WINGERS LOVE! And to you guys in Tennessee, your so-called 'bible belt', you call yourselves Christians?! Shame on you for letting the dude's house burn down...just because he did pay to the right organizations and so on!
If that's what America's all about, then FUCK YOU, AMERICA, YOU'RE A SELL OUT!
Community, NOT privatization!
Oh, and after this happened, one of the fire fighters got assaulted by an angry citizen....I say GOOD! Like You, Naga, said, life has consequences.....see how cruel it sounds when someone ELSE uses your same words?
Let's see how many angry emails I'll get this time.

C'mon, Trogdor. Think it through.
This is sickening, but it has nothing to do with the free market, and you know it. The only free market element in this is that people in Gene Cranick's position had the option to pay pay for government fire insurance ahead of time and for some reason didn't.
That's not the same thing as buying firefighting services on the free market. For one thing, it doesn't seem like Cranick realized he wouldn't be able to pay for the firefighters without the mandatory fire insurance, so if that was the Fulton government's policy all along, they failed to convey it.
Gene Cranick expected to be able to and tried to pay the firefighters and was refused. That's not the free market. That doesn't normally happen. When's the last time somebody refused to take your money?
Also, you point out that as members of a community, one house on fire was a danger to all the others. That's right. It's easier to keep one house safe if its neighbors aren't on fire. And that's why the private firefighters operating in Southern California during those big fires put out the houses next to the ones they were paid to defend.
The way the firefighters here refused to go to work on Cranick's house wasn't just unethical, it was stupid and illogical. It was less the result of the free market than a combination of bad policy and a dispatcher or mayor or someone else who was more interested in making an example of non-payees than serving the community or maximizing profits.
No matter how you slice it, the firefighters stood by because they were acting under orders, and no-one is being held responsible. Libertarians are against that. Orders are not free market. They're bad because, among other things, they defuse the blame for situations like this.
As Daniel Fisher said, "I’m a conservative with fairly libertarian leanings, but this is a kind of government for which I would not sign up."

Troggykins is just going on his anti-conservative ranting and wont see reason
the facts were, that family had always payed the fee, and just hadn't yet, but there are rules in place, and as the common phrase states "ignorance of the law, is not innocence"
I may not agree with what the fire department did, but they did not violate any laws, the only law breaker, was the idiot that assaulted the fire fighters.
Again, you make choices in life, and those choices end up affecting your life.
whether or not you agree with this logic or not, this is an unarguable fact.

i have to side with naga here.
as much as i dislike this idea some towns have a voluter fire dept.
pretty much ur house burns down before they get there.
here in my town/city it say 5-10 mins but my city is small land wise so a response time is fast.
i think they should just make the fee part of taxes and no a la cart it.
but some people want that.
some towns dont have a state code before or wanna follow the us building code.
now i pretty sure it every state town in the usa has too.
town have the right to vote on things no matter how silly and dumb and discusting it is.
this is what the repubicans would like to do with everything.
without a single thought of what will happen when people dont have social services.
pretty much grand pa will become a crimal when left with no other choice.
the tea party thinks will should pick and choice ssi, welfare, medicare and such so the cheap can not think of tomorrow.
pretty much pre great drepression era.
i think socail programs keep people from doing bad things.
i travel alot and to places where there are no socail programs and i keep in the back of my mind what someone might do when he lives on a 1.25 a day and he dont have that doller today or last 3 days.
you might wanna think that way.
desprate times breeds desprate people.
these are not really bad people as much as they see you in a far different light as you see them.
they not think twice about cyutting your throat if there kids can eat.
you might wanna think twice on election day before letting it the neo con clowns.
crime was really bad in the 80's.
reagan was the greatest crime maker ever.
i sleep very well at night WITHOUT a gun under the bed.
i doubt i sleep so well if i had to put one under there as well.
again think twice come election.
think about the future.
