the first salon i open will be called "ONYX" as everything in it will be black and exotic. of course essential mood lighting from www.pssl.com and a lovely sound system. i also found an online fabric supplier of gucci fabrics as well so im having the reception area seating re-upolstered in black gucci from www.acefabric.com . i plan on having only 4 stations in this first salon. not only will my clients be seated in gucci but each station will have it's own wall mounted 17" sharp aquos flat screen so they can watch what they like during their appointment. no walk- ins, appointments only and i've already got 2 stylists lined up that i am veryyyy satisfied with. 1 of which has been doing my hair since i was 16 and was voted best of baltimore 2004 by the "citypaper". I need 2 more stylists but I wont accept just anyone. I had projected the salon to be open in January but I still have more stuff to order so at this point I am estimating Mid February to Mid March. NO PARTIES UNTIL THE SALON IS OPEN. Sorry to all my pixel fans but the past 2 parties costed way more then they made and I can't put my goals and dreams on hold so everyone can party up at my expense. We still plan on having the next event at the club that was shown in the photos released early last month.

once this salon is off the ground i have plans already drawn up for 3 more themed salons, "icy" will be in all white with sort of blue incandescent vibe, "voodoo" will be a tiki bamboo sort of vibe, and my ultimate goal the final salon "Paparazzi" where stations have a large crushed velvet curtain that can be drawn for added privacy with your stylist for our most elite of clientel.

Uh oh, we're cosmically linked in a way and you'll think I'm a total geek, but I just got this new mixer... a Mackie Onyx 1640 which I incorporated into my studio. :D

I will make a trip to your salon when it opens, Moni, to get my nails done or something. That would be too cool.

wow that's a beautiful pic.

um... someone told me that somebody was talking about the gucci fabric im ordering being fake. WELL DUH!! it's purely for the look. all the high end cars and peoples furniture that they have customized is PURELY for the look. YOU CANNOT purchase authentic fabric anywhere in the world for any price. the designers guard it like currency.

and the siteis not illegal as long as it states it's replica fabric which it plainly does in bold red letters.

Congradulations. Get ready girl because it is a lot of work. But I'm sure you are more than ready for it. What line of products are you going to carry? TIGI just came out with a new line called S Factor. It is supposed to be really good. I haven't used it. Farouk Systems is real good. They're the makers of boisilk and CHI products. I can't live w/o silk therapy or my chi myself. It works wonders. Matrix has been stepping up lately. They have several different lines for all types of hair....Just a lil info...And also, r u gona have nail tech's and etheticians? Massage therapy is also a great way to kick it up a notch and further ur menu of services.

bless u mama. u r always so positive. i love the community i have built here. ya'll r so supportive n we still have sexy threads n nude threads but it never gets trashy or too out of control unlike other sites. i appreciate the support n thats why i work so hard to keep this site trouble free so all the nice girls like you have a place where they can feel comfortable to talk about whatever.

From a guy's perspective there are a couple of brands that I like: Bumble and Bumble (which you list, good on you) and Aveda.

AVEDA is definitely a possibility. I can't find a wholesaler for that though. I've searched high an low online.

I'm sure you've checked their website, aveda.com. They have a section for salon owners, but I know nothing of the pricing scheme or other wholesale distributors. Googling aveda wholesale brings up a bunch of links, but for all I know these could be for individual purchases so you'd have to check it out. But their products are excellent. I have fine, curly, brown hair with reddish highlights (all my own, mind you, and not a grey hair to be seen...yet), so I love their Madder Root shampoo and conditioner which brings out the red. Too rich for daily use but maybe once a week. Their leave-in conditioner is also the best I've tried: it doesn't make your hair gooey and sticky and yucky like most product does, but leaves it feeling natural and light but with nice control.

Sheesh, listen to me, I sound like a woman here! But I'm lucky to have the hair I was born with, and I've been going to the same stylist for over 20 years. She also loves Aveda, then B&B and Prive.

I wouldn't go with aveda. You want to be set apart. I went to this spa here in houston called Soure Vital. Although I don't remember if they offered hair care products, Their skin care and make-up is amazing. They make all their products here locally, and are all composed of hollistic ingredients. They have great smells, and also deal in wholesale. That's if you decide to offer anything like that in your salon. If you offer makeup.....I'd go with a mineral makeup. Like the glow minerals they offer at source vital or illuminare is also a good one. You always want something that sets you apart from the competition. In all aspects of your salon. You could try to get a liquor lisence.....get ur clients a lil tipsy...then, they spend that money on products and additional services. In order to make smart money with it....You have to offer something that is different, something that offers them more bang for their buck, and something that they strongly benefit from. You have to teach your clients. Educate them with their hair, Cause they are coming to you because they don't know. Show them and they'll love you. I took salon development in cosmetology, so i know a lot about running a salon. If you do it right, you'll be swimming in money like scrooge mcduck. So if you have any questions or are wondering about anything girl, just hollah.

I cant do much with my hair anymore, its falling out  Its been doing it since 18 so its just getting thinner. I really should try some rogaine or something. If I had a nice head of hair, I would definatly be down.
