My Mini-Vacation

7/15/10 - Last night, I stayed at my friend Kristin's family's beautiful million dollar home in Ocean City, NJ. There is a beautiful 35-foot yacht out back. Every detail in the home looks carefully considered and every room is impeccably furnished. We had dinner at The Raw Bar behind The Lobster House in Cape May where I enjoyed a delicious bowl of crab soup that rivalled Busch's famous she-crab soup and a softshell crab sandwich with a crab that was bigger and sweeter than any I've eaten this season.

This morning, Kristin and I had omelets at Uncle Bill's Pancake House and then we walked along the boardwalk so I could get some delicious Monkey Bread. We later took a cruise on her family's sport yacht, a twin motor 500 horsepower 35-footer. We circled the bay and then went out to the ocean. We docked at The Inlet for lunch where I had an oyster po'boy sandwich. After that we did some more cruising. We went to Jay's Crab Shack for awesome crab cake sandwiches before we headed home.

Ha, why thank you much! I was even thinking of trying out for Grooby, but I assume the pics I'd have to send out have to be on more of a professional, portfolio-ish level (and lol I'se a broke ass bitch with shitty cameras >_<).

Anywho, living in New Jersey myself (albeit the Philly area), I can tell you that while it's probably no Texas, it's been a regular sweat-fest here too, although probably less so on the shore and stuff. Frankly I long for the next time I'm out on the west coast (I was in Oregon 2 years ago for most of that August). Arid as a bastard. Haha. ^_^;

Jumbo lump crab is easy to eat and probably most crab lovers' favorite. Softshell crabs are an acquired taste. You're basically eating the entire crab, not just the meat, but the meat is so soft and sweet! Hardshell crabs are usually sold by the dozen or in all you can eat crab places. When I was younger, I used to love cracking open crabs and picking out meat. Nowadays, I prefer to just eat the damn thing and not worry about picking out the meat.

All in all, seems like fun, just like the parties (those who dunno, I'se be the furry boots girl from May 17th). Ventures with friends are awesome indeed, even with (by contrast) the diner ones I used to have with my friends, and mostly all we would have is coffee. Haha.

Cape May is nice, if a bit touristy. Somewhat akin to Chatham, MA, but more. I visited there a couple years ago before visiting you in Philly, Kalina. We ate at that place that had the kobe beef sliders as I recall.

yea swim suits and boat ride dont go well really.
sun burns ,unexpected waves flooding the boat,freak sea storms all can make for a not so fun day.
i have my share of boating horrors lol.
