Don't think its funny... other than cultural differences. What I think is great is that the guy doesn't freak like most would here.

Over the years I've seen dozens of TV shows where Japanese men have terrible, terrible things done to them and don't flinch. In the west they're comic relief but over there they're mainstream. It's a part of their male culture to pass such ordeals without losing face. That guy knew if he flipped, then not only would he have just had sex with a t-girl on television, (and demonstrating emotion in front of a stranger is alien to them anyway) he'd be exposed to the nation as a man with no face. Definite no-no. He could have been spitting nails but we'd never have known. The only way he could save face was to tough it out.

Did you notice the way the gg production girl bowed and curtseyed her way out the door? That was because the guy had performed so well in his test.

You're right they have different values but I'm not really convinced they're different the way you think they're different.
