Post Op Transwoman Receives An Appointment To The Obama Administration

Amanda Simpson, a post operative transwoman has been appointed to the Department of Commerce, to their Bureau of Industry and Security as a Senior Technical Advisor, by the administration of President Obama. Ms. Simpson had previously worked for twenty-three years at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona, where she was a Director of Advanced Technology, and had transitioned on the job.

Ms. Simpson is a holder of a number of degrees and certifications: A Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of California, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Arizona, in addition to being a certified flight instructor and licensed pilot.

In 2004, she was recognized by the YWCA as one of their "Women on the Move". In 2005 she ran as a candidate to the Arizona House of Representatives, and in 2008 she was an at-large delegate to the Democratic National Convention. She has served on the Board of Directors of The National Center for Transgender Equality, the Southern Arizona ACLU, as well as Out & Equal. Tho i wonder if pointing out the president was necessary, i mean, blah, everything ive been reading in the news has had a political slant to it, usually added by the reporter, even things that political leanings don't make sense to add to lol. blah, unno, just tired of politics, its all kids in the playground doing the im better than u game lol

Guilty as charged.

Gotta admit that I am pro Obama, and pro post op, though I try not to
let my biases impact my reporting.

I agree that some of the comments were abrasive and callous, though
I get the sense some were from a self- serving, self-promoting perspective.

But none if them will diminish the impact of this monumental moment.
