Ok so I dont promote myself I mean look at me why would I LOL. But. I would have to say AOL sucks. There are many different avenues you could go I myself hate AOL. They have crappy support, their member base is dying and I just dont think they are a good company.

Gia... GET AOL!!! I have comcast cable high speed but I still pay that extra every month for aol. You can't post your link in chatrooms or your profile at aol or u get banned BUT you can put it as your away message. So every time someone sends you an instant message in a chatroom your computer will automatically send a response saying "i'm not here but go checkmeout at www.giadarlingxxx.com "

I use it for marketing and I think it's an excellent tool. They have alot of cute features for email customization and stuff too. 8)

Were it me I'd use it as a secondary form of advertising (get an old machine hooked up to high speed internet by itself) and let it sit in away mode all the time.

For a good place to connect to people why not try IRC? Internet Relay chat is free and most of the adult rooms are jam packed with people 24 hours a day. Plus with a decent chat script scanning the chatrooms you're in you can easily spot people sharing passwords to your site. I've got 2-3 clients that do that and manage to catch/disable those passes within 5-10 minutes of seeing them.

last i knew you can get AOL for 9.99 a month for Ulimited Acess/Bring Your Own Access. if using it for advertising pays for the bill & more, then sure its worth it.
you wouldnt even have to run the AOL program. you could just sign up for the account. get the stuff you want to advertise all set up on there. Then just run AIM or a Multi IM program like Trillian, log in with the screen name of your AOL Account & BINGO. you should be viewed as Logged IN by any AOL customer. Do what Moni said & Leave your links as your away message.

I would go with it. Any Promotion And Marketing Is Good Promotion And Marketing. Geez It Can't Hurt Right?
