yea i never really liked her before this song either, i was always like o god she's crossing over, she should stick to acting. but this song was cool.

Evidence of this is in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, and Freaky Friday.

I was just on iTunes listening to a preview of the song and the reviews. Many people are knocking her on her talent. These days, with the right producer and promoter, most anybody can achieve some level of success in movies, music, etc. Few musical artists nowadays have a truly great voice, so we listen to lyrics or how catchy the overall tune is.
