Most transsexuals are very limited insofar as job choice is concerned.
You can't be a teacher or a policewoman. You cannot be a bank executive or a construction worker.
However, I suppose that there are other alternative professions in which you may triffle, but like I said, I do believe that they are limited, indeed.

Here in the USA, it depends. I know one TS who is beautiful and is a construction worker because she's the foreman. However, most TS's who are construction workers are usually not that good-looking and "pass" as men in those jobs just so they can get work.

And who says you cannot be a police officer or a teacher? It all depends on where in the world you are lol.
I really hate hearing people tell others what they cannot be. Cos really, unless there are laws forbidding you from taking a job, its not a cant do, but a are you willing to face all the trials and tribulations you will likely go thru in trying to get into said position.
ya know?
Way i see it, anything is attainable, ya just have to be willing to fight/struggle for it, and realize that everything has risks attributed to it. some worth it, some not.
A transsexual police officer would be a great addition to a police force in the vice squad if one thinks of it, specially in cities that have problems with that sort of thing, *like here in san antonio, where we have issues with cops not being too....sensitive about the whole transgender issue*
States have been slowly addressing the transgender issue when it comes to sexual discrimination in the workplace, and slowly cos frankly, it is not as black and white an issue as those born outwardly male, outwardly female, ya know?
But things will happen. and to be honest, slow progress can actually be better than quick progress, cos when things happen fast........things have a habit of backtracking,.

I'm not a transsexual yet, but my current job I am lucky to be in the field that I am. I am a professional web designer / programmer and everything that I do is via the web so I rarely have to see my clients as most of them are out of the states or country so communication is usually via email / phone conferences.
When I do meet clients here locally in my area, I tend to go as a girly boy as I do not have breasts yet. Rarely do I have to explain myself as most think I am gay in the back of their minds which doesn't upset me too much as it isn't too far from the truth if you take a step back and look at it all. I would like to be seen as a woman and not a man so instantly I am just your normal straight girl but can be bi at a splitting notice hehe :]

sigtigma, you are really cute in the pink hair :3, and have a gorgeous face xD
and webdesign is one of the best professions for those of any gender, cos really, how much actually face to face interaction is actually done. not much if any, aside from corporate webdesign, and for the most part, webdesigners are hired based on the work they do, not personality or gender.
Web design basically speaks for itself, do good work, get good work.
*hugs the cute pink haired girl*
BTW, u have a cute nose

Hi.
Im from new zealand waimate in the south isl. im 62 & am retired,
yet i worked for a number of firms & for my self as a builder for 45 years ,
Of cause as a soposed male , 12 years ago i came out as a woman. im androgynous ,
so being both male & female was not a problem. & yes i have worked as a woman in the building trade. & no problems & i deal with many 100s of people & still no probs. & im accepted as a woman .
it makes little differenance wether your male or female as to work if you learn your trade & can work along side others then yes we can as women pretty much do any thing, our daughter has worked with me as well shes 31.
Iv proved it & done it. & if your good at what you do & theres no reason not to be.
In Thailand many women work on building sites Iv been there & know some who have . we can do it if we wont to.

I currently drive an 18 wheeler in the U.S. My employer is not the ones I'm worried about. Its some of these other truckers on the road. But I play it safe and have never had an issue yet.:)

Big thanks
This is a huge concern for me. I'm a few months away from starting HRT and am a lawyer/CPA in Tulsa. I hope to pass as a male for a time and then transition. I figure my practice will be a loss; however, you never know and life is short.
