2 apologize for my ignorance, but is there a difference between transgendered, transexual, shemale, and what other terms are there?
shemale doesn't seem to be used much, is that more derogatory?
just trying to understand...

The difference between a transsexual & transgender person is often unclear which leads to wide misuse of the terms when describing someone. Here is a quick rundown on the differences between the "trans."

A transsexual is a person who wishes to be considered a member of the opposite sex. Many transsexuals alters their physical appearance either by operation or hormones. Transsexuals can be either female to male (FtM) or male to female (MtF) and are sometimes referred to as "post-opt" after surgery.

A transgender person is one that crosses gender boundaries or a man or woman that adopts the attributes of the opposite sex. The sexual preference of a transgender person often varies. Some transgender people undergo surgery to become a member of the opposite sex.

The term.. Shemale is a porn term for TS. It is considered to be a derogatory word. Personally, I dislike that word.

transgendered is more like a general description of cd,tv,full time pre op etc etc and transexuals would be the full post op,shemales is just a stereotype that was made by str8 world but if you dont agree with me then its fine

Good descriptions, Edge. However, it should be noted that some TS performers (like Vicki Richter for instance) have promoted themselves as shemales, taking possession of the word and thereby stipping it of some of its derogatory nature. I'd say shemale reflects what a T does (that is, if she's an adult porn star) but not what she is. Anyway, spot on for transgendered and transsexual.

shemale is NOT derogatory. it's only a porn term. any ts or cd who takes offense to that word is clearly a loser looking for something to bitch about.

so does real transexuals dear...my friend is a post op ultimately passable and youd never know,but shes only into females she looks like sigourney weaver exact.

Shygirl is right, go to any chatroom.. watch when someone asks the infamous question..

"any shemales wanna chat?"

and the ladies in the room will get mad at it. perosnally, thats a word i never use.
