I've came across multiple instances in Asia where they don't check the translation or spelling before writing it on a sign but this is the best.

That's priceless! Once about 15 years ago when I was working as the graphics designer/marketing assistant for a manufacturer employing a large number of Hispanics (about 70%), I had to "translate" a sign using some early PC translation software from English to Spanish. The sign was to read "Company Picnic: Do Not Punch Out on the Clock" because they would get paid for the two hours of the picnic. Well, fortunately a factory worker fluent in English and Spanish caught translation in time: in Spanish it read "Do not beat off by the clock." Oops.

Hehehehe . . . that's hilarious! It reminds me of a story I saw a while ago about Americans getting Asian symbols tattooed on them that they thought meant something else. I think Brittney Spears has a tat that she thought meant "mysterious" but actually means "strange" .

I actually met a girl once who was making fun of how "Asians always mess up English", (her observation, not mine!) and I noticed a Chinese character tattood on her hip. I asked her what it meant and she said something like "strong spirit" or "Powerful spirit" or something like that. The look on her face was priceless when I told her that in Korean it is pronounced "Dae", in Japanese it is "Dai" and in Chinese it is "Da" and while the Japanese and Koreans each have their own way of writing it, they both also use the Chinese character too, often on menus when you want to order a LARGE order of anything. The character on her hip meant "large".
