Point 2: If you think that labels do matter, then gay by definition refers to those who are sexually attracted to members of the same sex, which leads to...

Point 3: If transgendered women (M2F) are women (suffering from gender dysphoria if you will), then gay men wil not be attracted to them because they are not men, unless...

Point 4: The hypothetically gay man in question either considers the transgendered woman to be a man (which I think would be an extreme insult) OR he is not gay but bisexual (or pansexual or trisexual or whatever, but NOT strictly gay).

Point 5: Forget Points 2 - 4; only Point 1 matters, which is that labels do not matter (unless you think they do, then you must logically adhere to the classification schema that you've come to accept).

Technically, from a biological perspective (and if you disregard the 2% of the population which is intersexed), this is true. Likewise, even after SRS, biologically a TS is still a man (male chromosomes and many male body parts which are, of course, a good deal less obvious). However, since gender identification is not dependent upon (and in fact is often in opposition to) one's genitalia, then a different set of criteria apply. Personally, I think humans are far too complex for the either/or classification (whether male/female or gay/straight) to work; they are only broad and deep buckets into which people fall based on truly fundamental differences.

In any regard (and I'm bisexual, for what it's worth, though I haven't been with a man--not counting pre-op TS if you call them men--in two decades or more), I agree that "gay" is not the appropriate term for someone attracted to TS and GG but not to men, and in fact "bisexual" is really a grey area in this regard as well. Why? Because "bisexual" means one is sexually attracted to men and women. Yes, I think many guys who are attracted to TS are indeed closet bi (or closet gay if they are not attracted to women but only to TS) and haven't been able to admit it to themselves, but many guys do not fall into this category.

It's the slipperiest of terms, depending upon at least four factors: how the guy sees himself; how the TS sees herself; how the TS sees the guy; and how society sees them both. I say "screw society" and just be happy in discovering who you are.
