.....Upon Drag Queens?

Hey everyone, I know everyone whos read my post knows I really dont care what people think of me, but I do know that Most girls who found out I was a drag queen in the past, used it as durogatory offenses against me. Is it true that our whole Genre of people, whether it be culture/subculture, are hateful to drag queens? Ive heard MANY offensive remarks towards me because I am a Female Impersonator, it doesnt bother me, I just want to know if thats a big problem for most girls.
Me, on the otherhand, am still a Performer and damn proud of it. As a matter of fact they GAY community out here is going to help me with my transition in February. I am the only "Drag Queen" LOVED and left in Fort Collins Colorado (Although I moved to Johnstown, they still see me on a regular basis) And they are strong supporters of me and my decision.
On February 16th, "Help an Angel Get her Wings" Benefit will be happening. Choice City Shots in Fort Collins will be Hosting a show for me and contributing all the earnings towards my Augmentation/Transition. All my friends will be there Im sure, and I think its going to be a better turnout than my Birthday show. I dont know Tax issues on accepting donations, but I do know that Im allowed (i dont know if Colorado allows it) To recieve 10,000 dollars as a Donation TAX FREE (if I was told correctly) NOT that we will make that much, but yeah I am excited to see the turnout on this, and to see the check to help with my Augmentation I will be getting as soon as Im ready for it :D or a Lambourghini (KIDDING!)
Anyways, so I have no hatred towards GLB Trans CDs TVs or any genre of Sexuality/gender as a whole. You can do whatever you want in life, if your not accepted by anyone, then your doing something wrong or your in the wrong area!
I suggest we all come to Fort Collins area, I seem to be having no problem tranistioning here!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!

The GLB Community out here is supporting me and my decision, I think that everyone is different in thier own way, and can you believe I only dislike THREE People out in Ft Collins, and None of them go out at all. They are closeted. Oh well... Live and let live :D

Yay for Fort Collins! Good to hear that the gay community there is indeed openminded and supportive of transgenders.

Regarding taxation on donations: that's a question for a tax attorney or accountant. I don't know if such donations can be construed as gifts ("donations" of "300 roses" for "time only" on the part of an "escort" are not "gifts" legally, but income). Since the event is organized in your name and cause, I suspect that the donations would be seen as income, but it's worth checking out.

Gifts you receive are not considered income under the US tax code. It doesn't matter how large they are. You don't report them on your income tax return in any way. However, there are a couple of important qualificationsto consider:

1) True gifts. This rule applies only to true gifts. You can't avoid paying income tax by calling something a gift when it isn't. For example, a "gift" you receive in exchange for services or some other consideration isn't a gift (as in the example of an escort's "donation"). Thus, the question of whether these donations would be construed as gifts or income is raised.

2) Income after gift. If you receive a gift of property that produces income, you must report any income derived from the property after the gift. For example, if you receive stock as a gift, you must report any dividends paid on that stock after the gift.

Part of my growth as a transgendered woman was influenced greatly by drag queens. I remember watching the Miss Gay PAs and the events hosted by Joey Venuti and Paris Dupree in the early 90s. I consider many drag queens to be my friends and sisters and I know many transsexuals who still do drag.

I don't think anybody should look down on anybody. Though I know that even in our own community there is a degree of non-acceptance.

Those on hormones, vs those who aren't, young sexy TS's who were able to transition in their teens who don't accept those who don't "pass" 110%, TS's who look down on CD's or DQ's.

And it's like the only times in 3 years that I've had anyone make nasty gender slur comment to me have been three homeless guys. Two believe it on not a year apart in the same block of a rought beach area we hang out at. And one was a presistant panhandler who I told to "get a job..." giggle. Oh and a straight guy out with his GF in a gay bar in Laguna Beach ,CA and I admit I lost my usual sweet ladylike demeanor :-) and asked the jerk who the fk he though he was coming into a gay bar and dissing people.

My point being that those who want acceptance the most are often the least accepting.

As for the tax thing - not an attorney, but I think unless you are a legal non-profit you will have some tax. It's a grey area. If a friend gives you $200 is that a gift? What if you happen to give that same person a BJ - is it then "income"?

Personally I'm screwed - much of our income is credit card video sales and you know what that means... taxes - so our hard earned money can be given to Haliburton for $600 toilets in Iraq... Fortunately we have a lot of write offs! Giggle.

Sigh,
TS Jamie :-)

Well I have nothing against drag queens or kings for that matter. I think the whole idea of hierarchy in the the trans community is complete hogwash. If you are not smart enough to point out the difference between yourself and a drag queen OR yourself and a porn star OR if you happen to be in any of those catagories that it has NOTHING to do with your gender identity then you deserve to be pigeon holed.

how much do you anticipate receiving as a gift?
you have a lifetime limit on how much you can receive before uncle sam taxes you. also- you need to make sure that those donating to you are not trying to get a tax write off for their donations. that may throw up some red flags and get you audited.

I have no problems whatsoever with Transsexual women that wants to do drag shows. It's very common in our community. I don't do it personally but I think they are very talented people. Keep it up AngelaOrtega!:)

The two worlds have crossed over ALOT for quite some time; and I think that's logical, and it can be very positive.

But even in the world of drag, there is plenty of division. Drag queens can be very cruel towards one another, as anyone who's done drag knows. To "kiki", "read", and throw "shade" are all actually part of drag culture. And that's where drag shows some of it's roots in gay male culture.

But I love so many TS who are also drag queens, and still have enough gay men who are my good friends, that I honestly just don't care. I did drag before I transitioned, and I learned a lot doing it. And I still go to drag shows and I still pay attention to who's winning pageants.

People are people, regardless of what little groups they're a part of. Personalities vary, and no one is perfect.

Honestly I think drag is great, except for when men in drag appropriate trans identity and start calling themselves trans. Case in point, here in Portland, there is a drag troupe called the Sissyboys that has gotten alot of attention putting on really tacky shows with names like attack of the zombie tranny hookers, which as a real zombie tranny hooker I find offensive. In the name of not being politically correct they silenced the entire trans-community which found their shows appaling, though I must admit some of it was funny as hell. Point being, they called themselves trannies, but lived as men when they weren't performing, and were often used by the newspapers as spokespeople for the trans-community, which is also bullshit.

So my point is, I dunno what my point is. I'm all about people messing with gender, but I draw the line when some dude in a ball gown starts giving interviews to the local paper about how trannies need to lighten up, when he's never lost family or friends or work due to being trans, and has never had to worry about the many things that real trans people do on a day to day basis.

Best of luck Angel, good thing to be the only fish in the pond.

Well I think seriously, that theres hatred in all aspects of Gender/sexual orientation, when the person is defending THEMSELVES..... When I first started in the TGirl forums, there been many A time weve been called a CROSSDRESSER or DRAG QUEEN or even a Man in a Dress, when people were fighting in forums.... I am guilty of this also..... one person who knows this is Nicole..... Shes seen me go off..... But since I started my hormones it put a whole new perspective on me and the whole fighting scene and just was wondering why we use it as such a durogatory word at times..... Usually its the ones who dont have a pic, or the ones who havent started on hormones, or choose not to, but mainly I think its an insecurity issue.....
As my ex knew, I had an insecurity issue with bieng just a "Glorified Crossdresser" I mean I dress like a boi for work and sometimes at home, but when I did it up, I was good. But now im on the hormones, and Im more frustrated at the fact that I went on my two weeks leave, to get my first laser treatment so I can come back and work FULLTIME this way my insecurities will go away.... but here I am, Three more days before work, and I cant even step foot in work with one drop of makeup on cause the results werent satisfactory to me. As far as the Breast, well they grew faster than I thought so Now since my five o clock still shows, I have to wear a sweater to Make sure no one sees them until I am ready.
That was so off topic I think..... Anyways.... Now that Im on hormones, I look at the girls and I dont see a CROSSDRESSER or a DRAG QUEEN... I see ME when I was wanting to transition and couldnt......
Girls.... if there are any of you getting put down.... Just remember to keep your head high and If your planning on starting your transition, DO IT THE RIGHT WAY and take your time..... I tried to jump but this stupid string is holding me back and letting go slowly.... ( I think I might have only been the one to have gotten that) anyways......
BTW Hi Nicole, OMG You fucking look FAB!!! I am happy for you!!! and thanks for responding to my posting, it made my night! :D

There is something about living 24/7 that no drag queen or crossdresser can understand. But it's not a slam against any of them, because my heart goes out to ANYONE who feels stuck between two genders, and is bouncing back and forth. I did it for years, and it's maddening. The day I threw out every article I owned of male clothing, and my male identity no longer existed, it was like I got out of prison. And the sad part was, I had the key all along.

Again, Angel, you look fab!!!

Yeah, I havent gotten rid of that yet. Upsetting I was planning on doing it all tomorrow, But with my face not bieng satisfactory, and the reason for getting laser is to stop shaving, and the hairs are still growing since I have so much, I still have to come back In boi mode.... I was hoping to eliminate the shaving part, but Now I realize it will take some time! Thanks so much Nicole, As a matter of fact I messaged you on Myspace.... Let me tell you My jaw dropped to the floor when I seen the pics... I wouldve added you but not sure until you responded back! Thanks girl ttyl

I just requested you. Just give the laser some time, and you'll get good results if you have dark hair. Just make sure they use a laser made by Candela like the GentLase, GentleYag, or GentleMax. Those are the least painful imo. You'll get there, mama. It just takes about 6-8 treatments, and a few touch ups maybe once a year. TTYL

I might be talking out of my ass (kick my ass if so) but tend to believe that the transgender community has better things to do than to look down on others. It's bad enough that the LGBT community is looked down at to begin with (generally), so doing so would just continue the vicious cycle and everybody loses.

It sounds like the ones who think less of you are feeling that you're intruding on their turf (for lack of a better term). Maybe the negative experiences they've had transitioning haven't healed, so anyone they perceive to be a "fake" is a step back from what they've worked so hard for, and so they automatically go on the offensive. It's probably also because feel that the drag queen is a stereotype applied to all transgendered women and they want to stay as far away from it as possible. Anyone doing a drag show would then be declared the enemy.

Angel, you said you still perform, and that you're proud of it, so that means you enjoy what you do. I think that's the important thing. I haven't had an opportunity to see Jordan do a show but in my brief conversations with her she said she had a fun time doing it too - if that's the case carry on!

Am I missing the point? Slap me if I am.
