I have few questions but rather than asking them at all once... I keep hearing about how hormones feminize the face.. How is that possible because they certainly dont alter the bone structure?

Skin softening and facial hair reduction I think are the main effects.

Hormonal replacement therapy, HRT does have effects on the skin surface (softening) and depending on the person-slower facial hair growth cycle. However most ts seek electrolysis to permanently remove facial and body hair.

As far as bone structure, your face will pretty much stay the same unless you look for Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS). This type of surgery targets male facial bone strucutre and through surgery creates a more feminized face. :D

Hormones can feminize your face if you are pre or during puberty, otherwise hair and softening of the skin are the main things, bone structure cannot change after puberty but previously or during puberty the body will develop bones and muscle in a more feminine pattern near to those females in your close family. Age make man bones get harder and with particular manly signs, the more younger the softer.

what s the most beneficial effect to get out of HRT? the ability to grow natural breasts? Are you able to develop a size C from HRT?

i started hormones at 16. i haven't taken them consistantly for the past 2 years but i do on and off. anyways the ones i was taking were Delestrogen injections and Premarin 2.5 mg pills. they seem to work pretty well. Delestrogen is especially good for your breasts. if your trying to gain weight in your hips and ass i believe depo-provera is the best to use. 8)

someone else brought it up in another thread... it made me wonder... how old is too old before you start HRT? I m 24, and yet have to get HRT... (mostly because of circumstances and money)

At the clinic I go to, there are people starting hrt in their 60's. The only thing that would make it a bad idea is if you have pre-existing medical conditions that came with age. If you get your meds from a doctor, and let them monitor your health periodically, you should be fine.

yeah.. but didnt someone mention that the older you are, the less effective HRT will be on you, esepcially if you are a transsexual?

To a point, yes. The more time that testosterone has to have an effect on you, the more you'll have working against you. My testo levels are naturally very low, which didn't surprise me but I was happy to find out.

The greatest benefit is typically to be had before the onset of puberty, which is the second most intense hormonal phase of one's life after the womb, but I think that if you are in your 20s and especially if you are naturally feminine and/or have relatively low testosterone levels, it's certainly early enough. From what I've read (and of course as a guy I have no first hand experience to draw on), the most important thing is to work with a good doctor who can prescribe the proper balance for your body and monitor the changes and ongoing needs. There are side effect risks which should be considered. One girl I know, from Thailand, tells me that, because she started on hormones by age 14, she now has only to take a low maintenance dosage, which maintains the feminizing effects but doesn't impact her excessively otherwise (she's a top and doesn't want to lose her functionality).
