Are the girls real or Photoshopped? I have to wonder because some of them are stunningly good-looking and that doesn't happen too often.

Definitely Photoshopped or the pics were taken with a nice blurring filter.
Okay, here's a pic of me from yesteryear (12/13/2002) where I weighed 126 pounds, gaunt as hell, and needed to blur my face to prevent myself from looking like a human skeleton. (kali 1213tvamp.jpg). I smoothed out all my wrinkles and even made my nose thinner because I didn't like my nose. I also didn't like the fact that I had any lines on my face at all. In other words, I even hated my smile lines! (stupid, huh?) I was 34 back then and probably experiencing some sort of mid-life crisis, which is why I wanted to glamourize all my pics to make me look younger. I caught a few people stealing that pic and using it in their profiles over the years.
To get this Photoshopped effect, all you need to do is have a steady hand in smoothing over lines and then you knock up the color +25 to make it more vibrant.
And here's a pic from a little over 2 weeks ago (kalina.jpg) where I'm not doing any modification to my face at all. The camera angle makes my nose look thinner. I'm not wearing anywhere near as much makeup as I used to (which can make your lines look deeper, by the way). In fact, I did auto-level, auto-contrast on my pic and then I sharpened it. People ususally go the other way by blurring their pics, but I sharpened it so you can see the details in the trim of the dress and my thigh highs. I can live with my laugh lines now because they show character. Also, what a difference a 7 megapixel camera makes over the 2 megapixel camera I used to take the first pic.

Oh, I forgot to mention (and Ecstatic can probably tell you more about this), but if you wanted to simulate what I've done in Photoshop using filters on a camera, I guess you could use a Tiffen Black Diffusing Filter followed by some sort of Polarization filter to enhance the colors. Still, you can't make your nose thinner :)

Always better to do as much as you can when taking the photo and as little as possible in post-processing, that's true! I'm not an expert on filtration, though--I'm sure seanchai could offer much greater expertise in that area. Polarization can help, as of course proper lighting and white balance. But I want that filter that does nose jobs, removes blemishes, etc. ;)

Ecstatic,
Today I bought a Nikon D-40!! What immediately compelled me was I took 3 pics with it in the store, looked on the LCD, and almost cried at how beautiful the colors came out in the pictures. I bought the camera right then and there even at Ritz Camera's crazy list prices. Now I think that my D-70s was seriously broken all along because I could never get the colors to look that good. The pictures were sharp but the colors were always dull.
It may be the 18-70mm kit lens with the D70s. It may be the D70s itself. It might be other factors. I'll have to look more closely at what's happening. I'm loving the D-40's size. It actually fits in my hands!

Id have to agree with Kalina on the images being shop'd, all though i did look thru a few and would say that a small number of them look real.

Fabulous, Kalina! As you've probably noticed, the D70/70s is obsolete now, and not even listed on the Nikonusa.com site. Did you buy the D40 or the D40x? The D40 is 6.1 mp, whereas the D40x is 10.2 mp. I've been thinking about the D40x vs the D80; they are very close in price, features, and weight (1 lb 1 oz for the D40x vs. 1 lb 4 oz for the D80). I had been thinking about the D200, but it weighs in at almost 2 lbs, and Jon says it gets very tiring to work with for very long (then again, I used a Nikon F for nearly 25 years, and that mother weighs almost 2.5 lbs).
The major difference between the D40x and D80 seems to be that the D80 offers true NEF (RAW) while the D40x offers compressed RAW--but since I basically shoot in jpeg, that hardly matters.
Anyway, both are significant advances in color quality. I agree that the D70 lags there; I've always gotten high resolution but not always great color. Outdoors, it performs very well, but not so well in a studio setting. Hmmm, how soon can I scrape together another grand.....?
Anyway, let me know how it goes!

Okay, here's something weird weird weird... you know how you and others told me not to trust my LCD screen on my D70? Maybe that's what's happening here. I'm looking at the pics from both and the major difference is the D70's pics are darker than the D40s. The LCD screen on the D40 gives you a better approximation of what your picture looks like. The D70's LCD just plain s*cks :)
There is a major problem, though.... I tried my SB800 flash on both units and did continuous shooting mode. The D40's pics came out fine. The D70's appeared too dark until I upped the EV to +3. That is really weird. I'm talking major dark (see pics). I wonder if there's a problem with my hotshoe.

Could be. I've seen the kind of discrepancy you're describing and demonstrating here, but not to the degree that you seem to be experiencing. I do typically push the EV to +3 on the D70, but I don't think it's this extreme. Both the D70 and the D40 use the DX CCD system, though the D40 is supposed to have a brighter LCD with more vivid colors. I keep my LCD turned off unless I specifically want a quick review of a photo, in part because I find the light distracting (and battery-draining) and in part because I don't trust the LCD.
In any event, your D40 appears to yield great results!

Nope, they are not fake. These photos are high-quality photos..
And, if I'm not mistaking, there are two of them on europets.com ( www.ts-dating.com )
