Hey thanks, syntax. I'm thinking about an ebook publication. One of them is a fantasy novel about a female shapeshifter and a reluctant male wizard, about 500 pages in manuscript and due for another edit before I try to submit it again. The other is a surreal/magical realist/fabulist/post modern work which features a small town librarian, the Queen of Faery, megalithic (pre-Celtic) Britons, a transsexual punk rocker in a band with a reincarnated Wicca of pre-Celtic Britain, and an unfinished book whose narrative changes with each turn of the page and is echoed by events in the lives of the characters. I have to bring it up-to-date, though, as it's about 10 years old now (the fantasy novel is older, but being fantasy timeless).
Maybe I'll serialize them on my website and give you links if you're serious about reading them?

 Good one, Viridian. I don't doubt it; as Deliah says, you're one smart cookie (but are you transfat free?). I think we have a lot of very smart people in this forum. Personally, I mistrust IQ tests, as my results (many years ago) range from mid-120s to mid-150s, so I usually call it about 140. I usually muckup those "next number in the sequence" types of questions, and take too long so I never finish the test in the alloted time.

I always liked those questions when I saw them on the SAT and ACT tests. I'd get most of them (at least I knew the sequence) but I think the last few I would be totally lost.

Guess we'd best ask supergenius Viridian the answer to that one!
I'm more of a synthetic thinker: totally artificial. No, seriously, I mean that I excell at indepth analysis and correlation of bodies of knowledge and information, syntheizing relationships, the whole Hegelian process, but I'm only so-so at problem solving of the pattern recognition type.

for sure I am. I need a new book....and it's hard to find decent fantasy books that are not just a re-hash of something written 10 years before..
I'm writing a story myself. Actually it's kind of hard to explain the concept, but basically it's about a character who sets off a chain of events that sends time in a paradoxial loop...although before you scream "plagarism" (The Time Machine) haha there are lots of elements involved in it that are quite unique.
I included the concept of "Mr Black", shady characters from Non Existence who travel from star system to star system trying to eradicate life any way he can. The general principal being, that the universe began as a state of non existence...and therefore life and 'physicality' being the incorrect form of existence.
I like this exerpt I wrote:
"Most use physical violence; Fire is the most effective way of purging a planets surface. The process is extremely tough for the Mr Blacks however, and effortless slaughter has turned into a long laborious course of action.
This method unfortunately would not work very well on the planet Earth. Life is so deeply entrenched here, it would take more than evil intentions and a box of matches to unsettle its balance.
One draws attention to a Mr Black who was once ceaselessly trying to find a technique of annihilating the planet Jupiter. Unfortunately he thought it was appropriate to trample every single living thing with the sole of his foot.
It took him several billion years, but he got there in the end."

" Lone Star beer is the nectar of the gods " Obviously, you are a true Texan. It's a well known fact that Texas mothers substitute " Lone Star " for baby formula at 3 months old. Thats what makes Texans so tough. Anyway, when I was in the oil business, spent a lot of time in Texas. Drank a lot of Lone Star and I don't know if they make it anymore, but there was a beer named " Pearl " that was pretty good. God bless, Texas.

the hat itself really doesn't look like anything special or unique. it has to do with the material it is made out of. hats come in a blend of felt and beaver. the more beaver_ the more expensive. a hat is graded on this ratio by the number of X's you see. a hat at walmart will be 1X up to a 5X or so. a western store will rarely carry a hat beyond 10X. mine is 200X. I bought it from a hatter in san antonio. why waste all that money? it lasts forever- it doesn't lose its shape, it doesn't fade, and the colors don't run. and that is in any weather conditions. let me tell you, I was scared to death the first time I got caught in the rain with it on. after it survived unscathed I wore it all the time. I had a friend say I was full of shit since I would never wear that expensive of a hat in the rain. my reply- no I paid this much so I could wear it in the rain.

By felt I assume you mean rabbit underfur felt, which along with beaver is the standard type for Western and Australian style hats. As the owner of two Akubra hats (Snowy River and RM Williams Longhorn), I appreciate your 200X quality. Akubra doesn't use the American X system, so a direct comparison isn't possible, but the quality is high. Not 200X high--that would take a custom hat I think--but high enough to appreciate quality. Most American felts don't come close. I had the same worry you did about the rain, but the Akubra felt stands up well to the rain.
