If you haven't seen Severence, I've just seen it at the film festival - just got back - absolutely great horror with comedy.

hmmm, .. look pretty interesting , i'll have to try to
catch up with this one.
since you mentioned horror/comedy combination, how could
i ever forget to leave out " DEAD ALIVE " on my list ?
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 2, ....EVIL DEAD 2 (dead by dawn)
and SHAUN OF THE DEAD would
also have to be included among the best horror/comedy types.
Amazing how most of my friends can't seem to get enough
of Shaun of the Dead.
.... though it's not comedy-oriented, but how could
i forget " DOG SOLDIERS "
( easily one of the best werewolf movies i've ever seen.)

Are you joking here? The Sixth Sense is my worst film of all time. And Arachnophobia was meant to be a comedy... wasn't it?

" Arachnophobia" had me flinching the entire time i was
watching the movie and even checking the inside of my shoe
before i put them on
( this actually happens a lot in a couple of
places in Australia from what i saw on Discover channel )
if you check with most video stores and genres in Online DVD
rental (netflix, blockbuster) Arachnophobia wil be listed
as a horror movie, not a comedy.
with the Sixth Sense, i found it creepy and suspenseful.
( i loved it when the girl's hand
jump out from under the bed and grab the boy's leg ...reminded me
a lot of "CARRIE " when her hand came out of the grave at the end. )
i enjoyed it a helluva lot more than i did the two most
OVERRATED horror movies of all time, IMO
( BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, the RING )
but whatever may be terrible to me, maybe great
to another person.... And vice versa.

"The Sixth Sense" was great if you saw it before you knew the twist!
"Dog Soldiers" I loved. The guy who directed it was in the class above me at high school back in Gateshead. He also done that movie "The Descent" which was good and he's working on something similar to "The Thing" now.
I can't remember him from school but as far as I know there have only been 3 of us who went onto film school from that school.

Scariest movie I ever did see? Hrm.. I saw a film once. You guys will have to forgive me because I don't remember the title as it was a couple of years back. Anyway- it was a documentary of sorts.
The main character was dabbling in some reglious stuff of a nasty nature and suddenly you hear dogs growling and lights flickering and the sort. The film crew was like "Did you rig your house buddy or whats going on?" Suddenly there was a giant demon face on the way speaking backwards and the door flew open.
The camera operator was taking to hospital. They said he suffered a fit. I woke up and went to pee and me pee went away. I didn't like how that film made me feel at all.

the documentary you're referring sounds interesting. ..
the toughest, most shocking documentary ever for me
to watch was probably "BANNED IN AMERICA " series.
( not to be confused with Banned from Television)
live sniper/hostage situations,... murder, suicide, fatal accident
scenes, etc.
all captured on camera and totally UNCUT/UN-EDITED.
never could imagine how horrid drug/crime situations are
over there in Columbia with dismembered body parts lying
in the street roads on a weekly basis.
this stuff is far too rough and explicit for SPIKE TV to broadcast. ...!!

what series are you referring to ? ....... if its "Banned in America ",
they( Spike TV) can no way show the stuff BIA shows .
.....far too shocking and disturbing for cable TV.
Spike TV can't even show the lesser level
of " Banned from Television " so it can't BIA you're talking about.

Its all the same crap except the people on Spike TV survive. If you like that kind of cheap schlock you'd love the 80s Japanese video sets.

Speaking for myself, I really like zombie movies. Why? To be honest, I'm not sure, but I'm a huge fan of the genre.

The Shining
Night of the Living Dead
Rosemary's Baby
ironically everytime i think of " THE SHINING ", i can't help
but think about " TWISTER " when the F-5 tornado tore right
thru the drive-thru screen that was playing it.
i thought " Night of the Living Dead "was creepy when i was
a 'lil kiddo,
But oh hell ,..didn't i just freak out under the
bed covers when i saw Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD at the
theaters when it came out in 1978.
i never thought daybreak would ever come.
and i never knew what to expect from the TV previews
of that film .........until .
just as EXORCIST is still regarded by most as the scariest horror
movie of all time and the standard by which all horror
movies are measured, i think "Dawn of the Dead" is
cornerstone of all the large number of zombie- films that
seems to the popular trend nowadays.

Two that i really liked were house of a 1000 courpses , and devils rejects...weird at times but good movies.I agree. Rob Zombie is truely a respectful fan of the genre, and I think it shows.

The original night of the living dead, in black and white. The one where the Hero get's shot at the end. Classic.

Horror is pretty broad. But if you're talking 'Scary' then I would put the Exocist at the top of my list. Amityville Horror would be on my list too. My sister lived near that house and we went by there a couple times, so it made the movie more real to me.
