Once again.. my inquiring mind (can't help being an Aquarian!) pondered this question...
How much of an effect of each do you think has influenced your personality as it is today? Testosterone/estrogen (in tgrrls on HRT's cases), and societal influences? this is almost similar to the nature vs nuture debate, but I am more interested in not whether nature or nuture is right, but in your personal case, how much does your main hormones influence your personality as opposed to the way you were brought up?
I've always thought about this a lot... A lot of guys blame their actions on testoterone as well as girls blaming on estrogen.
i mean, you ve heard like "I can't help it, i am a guy." or "I can act like this way cuz I m a grrl". Is it due to testosterone/estrogen or because society has dictated how a guy or girl should behave or what their personalitise should be?

I'd have to say both. Hormones DO make you act in a very certain way... before I started taking anti-androgen and Estrogen I was so angry, and would do/say the cruelest things without sheading a tear... I also found it very hard to cry...
But I think the way I acted was to do not only with testosterone but because of the way i was brought up, or the way people treated me as i was growing up.
People hurt me so much that later on when all that testosterone came in almost everything would make me flip... however sometimes it'd get so much that I couldn't bare it and I would have a good cry and ask why I had to get so angry... of course, I knew a big answer to my problem was to start HRT and to stop the male hormones... and since then, I've calmed down so much... though I still get angry, it's no where near as bad as before.
So, yes... in my eyes it's a mixture of both. My pain/anger/hatred/etc. fueled my testosterone (or is it the other way round?), and turned me into a very anti-social, paranoid, angry and twisted wreck...
However this is purely because of my childhood... and later on the testosterone to bring it all out as anger and rage. I doubt I would've been so difficult if I wasn't treated so badly.

Hi MsDazzler. How's it going today for you? My day was strange because the weather man said it was going to be hot but it wasn't. Infact, I was a bit cold. Luckily I took a jacket. So what's going down?

On the inside, HRT did not change who I was. Actually it brought it out even more. There's definately alot of letting go involved with transitioning, and HRT does bring ALL of your feelings to the surface; the good ones and the not-so good ones too. Learning to deal with them, and to even embrace and enjoy them, is part of being a woman imo.
If you self-medicate, be careful. Many people overdo it unneccessarily, and it really overwelms them. Before my HRT, my hormone levels were somewhat off anyway. I had way below avg testo, and above avg estro. Within 6 monthes, I was at the estro level of the avg woman my age. But then again, I've taken shots only from day one, and that will tend to speed the process up.
My advice? Keep the tissue box close by for a few monthes maybe, but just ENJOY YOUR WOMANHOOD.

After being on estrogen for 3 months now, I find it influencing me more and more...
I finally cried for the first time over a sappy episode of "Sex and the City" last week... I had NEVER cried over a TV episode before!
