Sounds like they handled the story fine. What confuses me, is why is it that important? I mean, yes, she's an officer but how does that make it a special case as opposed to any other person getting a sex change?

When I see pics of a person like that, I want to say "what the hell are you thinking?"

The story said this person is schedualing SRS next year. Instead, she should focus on improving her appearance to match her feelings. This is a case where having SRS will not make her accepted as a woman near as much as actually looking like a female.

I'm not saying she should try and look like a 21 year old fashion model, but jeez.... she's going to have a really hard time if she doesn't do something about her general appearance.
