View Full Version : Right, its not about sex.....what is your favorite dish?
Right now I'm about Thai food...I'm just not good at making it yet. Given fall is starting I love white sauces (hold the jokes...) and soups (homemade pea soups and the like...)

Never really tried cooking, but I love ordering general Tso's chicken! ^_^

I love to cook. I was once ontrack to be a chef--first cook in an upscale Mexican restaurant among others--but decided many years ago that cooking professionally was just too much work (14 hour shifts in the kitchen, all that heat and mess, preparing 100s of meals every day was just too much). But I learned a lot of techniques and like to cook at home. I've done a little Thai, especially red and yellow curries and galanga and ginger are two of my favorite spices. I cook a lot of Chinese--few restaurant dishes, but rather chowing whatever ingredient are to hand. I rarely work from a recipe unless it's something I've never done before; I much prefer to gather what ingredients I can and prepare a meal on the fly. I do a fair amount of Italian, some French, Mexican, and other styles. Seafood is a favorite.
Bon appetite!

I like Ecstatic was on course to be a chef, and love to cook. However that's one reason I couldn't say I love just one dish or type of food. Life is for living, sample all you can.

Hugh, what was your reason for not pursuing cooking as a vocation? Just curious.
Quinn:  I love shushi.... also love to "cook" steak tartare 8)

It was the same as yours, working all those hours and not really being able to enjoy the fruits of you labor. I find that a lot of things I enjoy doing aren't as great when doing them for $. Except maybe porn, I could have sex and get payed.

Variety is the spice of life, but I never seem to get bored w/ sushi and Japanese. There is a killer Japanese resturant very close to here. I go there whenever my finances allow. (Not cheap, but AWESOME!) I love Indian, and Vietnamese too.

I lack any talent for cooking, something made all too clear when I decided to try and make my own sushi. While it looked easy enough, it was not. It was, however, nothing short of a complete disaster – resulting in what was easily one of the worst things I have ever dined upon.
Now, I just stick to buying sushi and have to agree with Arianna that it just doesn’t seem to get boring. It's like fast food that's actually healthy to eat (depending upon what you order, etc.).
I saw Vietnamese food also mentioned on here. I, too, am a huge fan, though I don’t eat nearly as much of that as I do of Sushi.

When it comes to eating out I try to keep it basic with something like Pizza. Unless I'm with others then I just go with the flow and figure out something where they choose. Usually something pertaining to Chicken.
A quick meal at home is just like either soup or something like a either a turkey or ham sandwich.
My own cooking? Well while I'm sure Gordon Ramsey will find me no threat I do have a few things I do like to cook when given the opportunity.
Usually falls either to some pasta dish or making a meatloaf. No one's fell sick or died from my cooking yet so I guess I do a good job. lol
On a breakfast note I have been complimented on my omlettes. :)
