This thread has not been discussed yet... so I thought I'd bring it up...

How do Tgirls deal with hair loss? Because I know that Rogaine and Propecia are not recommended for women, yet Tgirls are women in men's bodies... So I was wondering about that...

Before starting hormone therapy, is taking Propecia (Finasterdie) or Rogaine recommended?

Also, for you men, I m curious to what have worked for you, if you have ever tried anything for your receding hairlines.

I'm lucky: my hairline and color are the same as they were in high school 35 years ago. :)

I believe finasteride is the typical choice as doesn't it touble as a T Blocker? Check the online hormone order guides and sites liek Anne Lawrence. They should have the info you need.

Using a testosterone blocker and having estrogen added to your system does usually thicken hair and regrow some lost hair, so if the loss that the person has had already is small, it may not become an issue.

Propecia is indeed sometimes used as an anti-androgen. But, as Harajuku said, that dosen't mean that there aren't health risks involved.

Very true, but in the end, all hormones are a health risk. If it means having hair or not, most will choose to use it and take the risk.

I thought that was also a very interesting post by Gia. I would do all 3 things at once too - browbone shave, brow lift, and hairline drop. Just gotta find the right surgeon first. I would consider flying out to CA to have her doctor do it, unless I felt confident w/ someone more local.

You can usually get everything done under one procedure. It is called Facial Feminization Surgery. Most SRS surgeons offer this as well.

He said that the initial dose will always be the grow back line. In that he took it....stopped taking it and when he began taking it again his hair grew back to the point of the initial dose.

Hmmm...: He took the medication at a point when his hair loss wasn't so bad. He got concerned about possible side affects and went off it. More hair fell out. He began to take it again, and the hair grew back to the point when he started taking it in the very beginning replacing all the hair that he had lost when he went off it.

I must spend to much time alone, more and more I lack the ability to clearly express myself :)

Hello!

I finally made it- ;)

Luckily I do not have any hair loss- but I always had a fab back hairline.
I had my hairline moved lower 3/4 of an inch a few months ago by Dr. Cap Lesesne in NYC.

Since I have used Rogaine and ann the hair ahd grown back through the scar increcibly. As well- there is a much better pill than propecia called adovar that you should look into.
I have been taken that as well.

The next finishing touches to the hairline will be done by Dr. Epstein who is easily the best hair transplant surgeon in the US.

How come Propecia is more commonly heard about than Advoart?

I saw my brother and father two weeks ago. My brother is 4 years younger than me and he's losing his hair! He looks like he's going to have a bald patch on his head in a few more years. But... he took lots of steroids when he was younger. My father's hair is getting light on the back of his head. But he's 66, so that's forgivable.

Me, I still have a full head of hair with the same hairline as when I was 21 (I check these things and am somewhat obsessed by them.)

Still, I admit to wearing wigs and, if not, then getting hair extensions. I like my own hair and I had it almost as long as this pic at one time...

http://www.tgirltease.com/sample/beachtop/beachtop02.jpg

but having worn wigs for a long, long time, I don't think I can stop. The thrill of looking different every time I go out is pretty cool. Can anyone fault Jennifer Garner for looking different on each epi of Alias?[/img]

It's funny because not long ago there was these huge ad campaigns for Rogaine and Hair Club for Men and now more and more guys are just ignoring all that and shaving their heads... and y'know what? Some guys look damn good bald (yes, you, Parrot).

My boss, on the other hand, refuses to give in to his baldness and grows long strands of hair one one side and sweeps it over his head to the other side. Ick!

aw, thanks Kalina. :)

My uncle has a toupee...mostly because of a request by his wife when they got married. Most of the time I didn't notice it...but this summer we were playing frisbee on a windy day..... I saw that thing fly.

Bald seems to be the best way I find. I thought about Rogaine and stuff...but wouldn't you have to keep taking those things to keep the hair. Kinda pricey and pointless. And I don't have to worry about combing anymore. :P

Some women are just born that way. Your health has a lot to do with how your hair grows or looks. Some people have suffered through cancer and lost all their hair. It grows back but it's never the same.

I've also seen women with bald spots, no hair, etc. It's all genetics in these cases.
