I delete ALL email from anyone that I don't know. And I won't IM anymore either. It usually bores me. I'll cam for money in the future, and that's it. But the reason I won't IM is that I'm tired of the bullshit artists. Not that I've fallen for any of them. It's just that weeding through that stuff, when 99.99% of it is nonsense, and a waste of time. Guys always want to chat w/ me, and the minute they do they start coming across like losers. If I escort when I re-locate, maybe IMing can be useful. But otherwise, I've got better things to do than waste time giving free fantasies to the "Felicia's" and "thirsty wolves". And send someone a check?!? Vegas gives better odds on breaking even, and is alot more fun.

Oh, by the way, everyone. I need an operation that costs 100 billion dollars. Send all your cash to p.o. box SUCKER!

Continents on the other side of the world, trusting strangers in 20 minutes, asking them to cash things as a favor for a 3rd party... Whatever the deal is here, it sounds like a fishy story. In a con, step one is always gaining someone's trust. But you do what you want. Live and learn.

I've seen that Scam, I was talking to a guy that was supposed to be from the UK, but was working in Africa, the company could not pay them, so he wanted to have me open up an account with Brinks, so that I could cash him money order for him..........unfortunately for him........I found it strange that someone supposedly from the UK could not speak English very well!........and I would never lend myself to giving nor receiving money from strangers........think about it, would you trust your hard earned dollars to some blip on your computer screen?........HELL no!

I agree, and besides, how does a total stranger who is trying to get to know you, have the audacity to ask a favor like that. NO that sounds like someone out to use people to me. And that's whether it be on the net or in the "real world".

Well even if you don't know the catch in the scam (nor can I tell) at least you do know it's a scam.

Definitely a scam. The trick is, the money order or cashier's check is almost assurdedly fake. Banks will often cash the check, then hold you responsible for the amount of the transaction when the check bounces. The person on the other end gets free money and is untraceable (probably spoofing their IP address). These are usually processed through Nigeria (hence, the African location).

This is #4 on Craigslist's list of scams:

4. distant seller offers to send you a cashier's check and then have you wire money: this is ALWAYS a scam, in our experience - the cashier's check is FAKE sometimes accompanies an offer of merchandise, sometimes not scammer often asks for your name, address, etc for printing on the fake check deal often seems too good to be true.
