On this first full day of Autumn, at the autumnal equinox, I want to send best wishes and blessings if you'll have them to one and all, especially to any who are struggling with the aftermath of Katrina or the ongoing struggle of Rita. A TS friend of mine named Shemaya reminded me that the equinoxes can be seen as a special time for the transgendered since it is twice a year, at the spring and autumnal equinoxes, that the days and nights are equal in length and balanced between the poles of opposites: yin/yang, male/female. She posted the following poem in her Yahoo Group:
12 hours of daylight

we are at the mid point
all is in balance
like the shemale split between male and female
between day and night
between summer and winter
