As an advid Admire of the Moving Pictures.... When there was this thing call no color, no sound, but the music of a Piano.... I am very much intruige to see some of the Remakes, because of the Newer technologies these days....even though Hitchcock and the rest of the gang back then scared me... I enjoy the thrill, believe it or not....LOL I would be Grateful to see this and tell people either the original was better like "The Thing" Tv hit "HitchHiker".....Some better remakes then the Original as well...thanks to Spielberg, and Lucas has made it more exciting and enticing to enjoy as well.... So I hope to hear you scream at the theaters this coming Tues.....

I'd only go if someone were to take me. I like some horror movies, but only if I have someone to hold on to.

i love hostel, haha well its sick and horrid. Tell me your favorite scenes kalina after youve watched it. The people of Slovakia actually pissed of of that movie coz it gave their country (um well a part if it w/c is
Bratislava) a bad image. I would definately watch Omen even though i dont get scared with horror flicks that easily, i find snuff films much scarier

Okay, there's a preview of When a Stranger Calls and the preview freaked me out because of the photography (the subliminal images in the beginning). Looks like they concentrated on the first half of the original and made an entire movie on a cat and mouse chase. I always thought the original was stupid. The concept was scary, but the execution of it was bleagh.

I really disliked Saw II. I think they really deviated from what made the first Saw really good. Are they making another one. I think I heard that somewhere.

I remember liking the original when it came out, though the genre isn't my cuppa. I generally prefer more psychological horror, Hitchcockian types like Vertigo. But I might check this one out if I hear it's a good remake. So many remakes suck!

Okay, I finished watching Hostel and I must admit it wasn't as scary to me as everyone said it was. Maybe I'm really desensitized now that I've seen things like the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, Saw II, I Know What You Did, and other slasher type movies. It was more disgusting to me than scary. My favorite scenes were:
***** spoilers ahead **** skip the rest of this message if you haven't seen Hostel!!!!
1. Paxton getting his revenge on the two girls and the big nosed guy by running them over.
2. Anna throwing herself in front of the train.
3. Anna's eyeball that Paxton had to help alleviate the pain from... that reminded me of The Evil Dead :-D and I think Quentin wanted to pay homage to that movie using the white milk.
4. Paxton getting revenge on the "surgeon" at the end. An eye for an eye :)
What I really like about this movie is the main character isn't some helpless dweeb who can't defend him or herself. He actually kicks some serious butt by using his intelligence and cunning. I've always wanted to see a film like that and traditional horror movies just don't give you that.
I must also admit that the concept of an elite club like that seems possible, but also kind of silly. I was almost expecting something supernatural to happen, but Quentin kept the movie grounded in his own version of reality. Ummm... did Paxton see some guy getting his penis clipped off?
Oh, wait... you know what the scariest moment in the film was? Seeing the two hotties that seduced Paxton and his friend without makeup :-D :-D :-D :-D
That Natalya girl was actually born in Slovakia according to imdb.com. Funny!

Ah, I saw both the American and Japanese versions. Both are good, but... the little boy under the table tapping his fingers was a silly scene to me. If I saw him under a table in a restaurant, I'd kick him.

There are plenty of movies that get so-so reviews that I actually like and lots of movies that got rave reviews that I thought were silly. The silliest movie I've seen in a while was this one that came out a couple of years ago called The Village. I was ready for something supernatural, but no... it was really braindead simple. I hated it.

Yeah, and it got all these rave reviews and a high grade on imdb. What are these people smoking? I think everyone was just on an M Night Shymalayan bandwagon when that movie came out. It was like his turn to receive all the accolades, even for a bad movie.

The problem with M. Night's movies is they make good stories but not when translated to films. He know how to tell a story... just have to excpet it's not always going to work. He's got another one coming out.
I forgot to mention grude in the other thread. The was freaky. Just... I dunno, some weird stuff going on. I think it was the sounds that messed with my head mostly.

... 3. Anna's eyeball that Paxton had to help alleviate the pain from... that reminded me of The Evil Dead :-D and I think Quentin wanted to pay homage to that movie using the white milk....Actually, I don't think Tarantino had anything to do with the making of that movie. I heard he was consulted about whether or not he'd promote it (thus you see "Quentin Tarantino Presents"), and he said sure because he saw something he liked or maybe he knew the people that made it. It was actually written and directed by Eli Roth (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450278/). So, if the movie lacked really slick scenes and a decent or amusing storyline, its probably because Quentin never had anything to do with it.

Kalina, this movie "when a stranger calls" sucks, watch the original from like the 70's, that one was good, and oh yeah don't bother with the sequel "when a stranger calls back" ( not kidding) but this remake is like watching the WB

let me tell you...when "when a stranger calls" credits came up i thought part two was going to come on because it was such a weak ending....it could have been much better if they maintained the momentum they had near the middle of the movie

I couldn't see Hostel. I mean... I could've seen it but the previews gave me an idea that I'd hate it. Something about pain.
OMG- "When a stranger calls back" say it ain't so. I have no desire to see that one or the one currently out. I'm looking for the other horror down the hall.
I went to see the omen last night. i say its worth going to see.

I finally got to see it on a $5 bootleg (camera aimed at the screen).
What a terrible movie! There were a few graphic scenes that played with your mind a little bit, but on the whole, I was totally disappointed. I thought Liev Schrieber was okay in it (he basically played his Cotton Leary role for this movie), but everyone else.... bleagh.
When I saw the kid, I did not think of him as the Devil's son. He looked like a little brat with overdeveloped jowls. The fact that he doesn't say anything really and just screams when he's near a church just makes me believe that he's retarded. If I scratched my mother and kicked her in the face, there would be hell to pay, but this little brat gets away with everything. He's not the Devil's son. He's just the epitome of every little unsocial brat growing up in the world who plays too much videogames and rides those little push scooters before they're old enough to develop values. Maybe that's the message here. Get your kids out of the house and get them to socialize with other little kids more.
I hope they don't make a part 2.

Well, if they do it'll probably be have to be in December 12, 2012. Fortunately, the worlds going to end a couple days later so it all evens out.
